Welcome Rebecca Schultz as the Permanent Center Director for Constitution Marsh Audubon Center and Sanctuary and the Hudson Valley Sanctuaries

Dear Constitution Marsh and Hudson Valley Audubon Friends,

I am honored to announce that as of July 2023, I have been appointed as the new permanent Director of Constitution Marsh Audubon Center and the Hudson Valley Audubon Sanctuaries. This comes after serving as a staff member for over 13 years at Constitution Marsh through my roles as Education Manager, Senior Center Manager, and, most recently, interim Center Director.

A little about myself: I received my bachelor’s degree in Anthropology in 2001 and joined the United States Peace Corps in Ukraine in 2006, where I worked as a Youth Development Volunteer. After my service in 2008, I pursued a career in Environmental Conservation Education. In 2010, I graduated from NYU’s Master’s program and became a full-time staff member at Audubon New York’s Constitution Marsh.

In the time since, I have had many special moments interacting with you and your families. It has been my pleasure to meet many of you through our on-site public programming or as you were walking to the boardwalk as a casual visitor.  I’ve watched many of your children grow up as they participated in our formal education programs or have been part of our internship programs, gaining experience in conservation and education. Continuing these interactions with you is one of the things I look forward to the most in my new position.

This is an exciting era for the Constitution Marsh Sanctuary and Audubon Center and across all our Hudson Valley Audubon sites, and I’m honored to be part of it in this new role of Center Director. As we embark on a re-envisioning process for more programming and conservation work, we hope to expand our Youth Leadership programs, learn more about bird migration in the Hudson Valley by utilizing our new Motus stations, increase our climate change work through the Youth Climate Summit, and more.

I’m thrilled to continuing to utilize my experience and incorporate my knowledge into this new era of conservation work across all our sites across the Hudson Valley. Changes like these will require community input and involvement, and I look forward to collaborating with you all to make this version of the Constitution Marsh Audubon Center and Sanctuary a reality!

With sincere gratitude,

Rebecca Schultz
